This guide will walk you through the steps of accessing, publishing and grading assignments within the AEFIS platform.

1. Accessing Your Assignments
There are three ways to access Assignments from the main AEFIS dashboard. The first option is to locate the Direct Assessment associated with the Assignment from the Action Items panel. You should see the Direct Assessment option near the top of the Action Item panel:
To access the Direct Assessment, click the blue pencil icon to the right of the course code.
Please note, that in order for an Assignment to be graded, it first needs to be published.
The second method also makes use of the Action Items panel. In the Action Items panel, you should see an option for Assignments to Grade:
As before, click the blue pencil icon to the right of the course to access the Assignment:
The third option for accessing the Direct Assesment is via the My Direct Assessment panel of the main AEFIS dashboard:
You’ll need to click the blue pencil icon to the right of the Course information to access the Assessment.
Once you click the blue pencil icon, a new panel should appear. This is the Direct Assessment panel. (The panel that appears will be consistent with any method you use to access the Direct Assessment).
In the top right corner of the panel, you should see a blue button with the text Grade Assignments. Click on this button to continue to the Assignment:
Selecting this option should direct you to a new panel. This is the Course Section Assignment panel.
All of your Assignments, both published and drafted, will be listed here. In order for you to grade an Assignment, it must first be published.
2. Publishing Assignments
To publish an Assignment in draft status, click the little blue circle icon to the right of the drafted Assignment. Select the Go to Assignment Home option that appears from the associated options.
Once this option has been selected, you should be directed to a new panel. This is the individual Assignment panel.
In the top right corner of this panel, you should see a blue Publish button.
Once you click on the Publish button, a new pop-up window should appear. This pop-up will ask you to confirm the start and due dates of your assignments. Once confirmed, click the Publish button at the bottom of the pop-up.
Click the blue Assignments button in the top right corner of the main Assignment Panel to navigate back to the Course Section Assignment panel.
3. Grading an Assignment
To take the next step in grading your Assignment, click the blue circle icon to the right of the published Assignment, and select the Go To Assignment Home option.
This will direct you to a new panel. To start the Grading process, navigate to the Grading > Gradebook section in the left-aligned sidebar.
After selecting this option, you should be directed to the Assignment Gradebook panel. Here, you should see a list of all the students who have completed this particular Assignment.
There are two workflows for grading the assignments. To grade students individually, click the blue pencil icon to the right of the student's name:
Your other option is to initiate a universal grading process that automatically moves through students by selecting the Open Gradebook button in the top right corner of the panel.
Either of these workflows will open up the Student panel.
To grade a student, click on their name from the left-aligned sidebar. At the bottom of your screen, a new grading window should appear in a pop-up.
Any Rubrics that you’ve linked to the assignment will appear to the left. Choose the Rubric value that best suits the student’s performance for this Assignment.
To the right, you can leave a comment for the student in the Grade Notes section, to provide them with more information on the evaluation.
When you’re finished assigning your grade, select the blue pencil icon above the Grade Notes section to confirm your grading on this Assignment.
To continue to your next grading Assignment, click the arrow icon next to a different student’s name.
When you’re finished entering your grades, click the Exit button in the top right corner of this panel.
